Hundreds of health and care jobs on offer at Junction 3 library

Hundreds of vacancies will be on offer at a jobs fair at Junction 3 Library next Wednesday (1-3pm, 1 November). In support of the council’s Proud to Care campaign, the fair will focus on roles currently available in the city’s health and care sector.

Bristol City Council, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and partners such as the National Careers Service, N-Gaged Training and City of Bristol College are expecting 28 employers at their next jobs fair.

Confirmed employers include, University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, Brunelcare, North Bristol NHS Trust (Southmead), Medacs, Agincare, St Monica Trust and Brandon Trust.

Employers will have a range of full and part-time vacancies on offer and visitors will get an opportunity to also talk to them about training courses and the new apprenticeships which are available for all ages.

Councillor Claire Hiscott, Cabinet Member for education and skills, said:

“People working in health and care roles are at the heart of our society and there’s a wide array of different roles on offer. This jobs fair, our tenth so far, particularly focuses on this sector in support of our Proud to Care campaign which celebrates those already working in caring roles and helps to attract new recruits. As a Learning City we want to help people get the skills they need to find work so there will be information available on the day about training as well as help to apply for the roles on offer.”

Cheryl Beard, Registered Manager from Medacs, one of the employers there next week, said:

“Working in care can be really rewarding both on a personal and professional level as it’s a chance to help people at a time of their lives when support can make a real difference. It’s also a very flexible career choice, and we find many people join us after starting a family or caring for older relatives. I’d encourage anyone looking for a new challenge to come along to the jobs fair and find out what it’s all about.”

Adrian Carr, Employer Account Manager from the Department for Work and Pensions, said:

“We work closely with the council and others to bring together employers with vacancies to fill and people who want a job. This joint jobs fair offers job-hunters a wonderful opportunity to meet and talk to a wide range of employers within the health and care sector at one time and in one place. The health and care sector offers excellent training and a career for those who want to progress.”

The fair takes place at Junction 3 Library, Baptist Mills Court Bristol, BS5 0FJ on Wednesday 1 November from 1pm to 3pm.
