More jobs on offer in South Bristol on Thursday (15 February)

Over 40 organisations and companies will be looking to talk to potential new employees and apprentices at a jobs fair in the South Bristol Skills Academy on Thursday 15 February.

Those attending will cover a wide range of different job sectors and will have both full and part time vacancies available for all ages alongside apprenticeship and other training opportunities.

There will also be help on the day for anyone looking to apply for jobs they have seen during the fair and Google will be running workshops to help teach people how they can search for and apply for jobs using social media.

The companies on the day will include Alun Griffiths, Bristol City Council, Bristol Waste, Computershare, Co-op Distribution Centre, Hinkley Point, ICTS, Matthew Clark, Poundworld and UBHT at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.

This is one of a series jobs fairs run by the council, the Department for Work and Pensions and the City of Bristol College, working together with the National Careers Service to help people find suitable jobs, advice and training.

Councillor Anna Keen, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said:

“Job fairs are a great way of meeting employers and getting extra face to face support to give you confidence whilst looking for a job.

“As a Learning City we want to make sure that there are always plenty of opportunities for people to learn new skills even in later life. If you’re looking for a change of direction in your career why not also come down to see what training is on offer. I’d like to thank our colleagues in our education team, the Department for Work and Pensions and the college alongside the other training and support organisations who’ve helped to make this fair possible.”

Adrian Carr, Employer Account Manager from the Department for Work and Pensions, said:

“Anyone looking for work is strongly encouraged to come as we will have a mix of full-time, part-time jobs, apprenticeships, training courses and support to help those unsure of what they want to do. We bring everyone together in one room at the same time and this makes it as easy as possible for someone to come here, talk to all the employers and then walk away with a job interview.”

The Jobs Fair will open to all between 10am and 2pm.
